How To Choose a Bar Code Printer

Barcodes are becoming more and more widespread in today's daily life, so it is very important for businesses to have a high-quality and low-cost barcode printer. ”How to choose a suitable barcode printer?” is a problem that many merchants will encounter. We will introduce you how to choose a barcode printer and what you need to pay attention to when purchasing a bar code printer.

1. Choose according to the printing resolution.

Barcode printers are distinguished by their printing resolution, mainly 203dpi and 300dpi. 300 dpi is about 30% more expensive. If the requirements for the fineness of printing are relatively high (such as the density of bar codes for jewelry, mobile phones, and electronic components is very high), you can choose a 300dpi model, and in general, a 203dpi model is enough.

2. Choose according to the usage load.

Bar code printers can be divided into commercial grade and industrial grade according to different occasions. Other commercial products mainly meet the needs of office labels and small batch labels. Industrial-grade printing equipment takes into account the needs of high-volume, harsh environments. Usually industrial grade products use more metal parts and higher configuration, the durability and stability are much better than commercial products, and the printing speed is much faster.
There is no very precise dividing line for the use load. According to our experience and some information, the maximum daily workload is not more than 4,000 sheets, and the average daily label printing volume of about 1,000 sheets can be considered a commercial machine. Of course, the service life of industrial printing will be longer under the same load.

3. Choose according to the label conserving time.

Barcode printers are divided into two types: thermal transfer printing and direct thermal printing. Because the transmission mechanism is relatively simple, the price of thermal printers is relatively cheap. Thermal transfer printers can usually be converted to thermal printing, which is more versatile.

Thermal transfer is to transfer the toner on the ribbon to the medium through the high temperature on the print head, and the storage time is relatively long, so it is widely used. Thermal is a direct effect on thermal paper, suitable for postal, retail and other fields that are ready to use.

4. Other issues that need attention.

If the actual work needs to print a large amount of data from the database, it is best to choose an industrial product with a relatively large memory; if the information in the database contains Chinese characters, consider choosing a model that can download Chinese characters into the machine memory. If there are many types of media to be printed, you must choose a model that can move the sensor. Also consider details such as whether the print media requires additional supports.
