How to clean a Bar code printer

If you want to keep your barcode printer in good printing quality and extend its life, we need to be careful maintenance, it can be more durable and more efficient in use.  Now many people will worry about its service life when they buy barcode printers, in fact, we can also consider from another thinking: a good quality printer + careful maintenance = superior performance.  Therefore, the daily care of barcode printer is very important. Here we would like to share with you the cleaning procedure that should be paid attention to in the daily care: 

 

· Cleaning of print head:

Clean the printer head: After switching off the power supply, wipe with cotton swab and alcohol in the same direction to avoid residual dirt. Turn the print head up, remove the ribbon and label paper, and gently wipe the print head with a cotton swab (or cotton cloth) until clean. After that, gently dry the print head with a clean cotton swab.  Keeping the bar code print head clean can be gotten good printing results, the most important thing is to extend the life of the print head. 

 

· Cleaning of sensor:

The sensor includes a ribbon sensor and a label sensor. The location of the sensor is described in the manual. The method is to wipe the sensor head with a cotton swab soaked in alcohol, clean it and then wipe it dry. 

 

· Platen roller cleaning and maintenance:

With cotton swab and alcohol to clean the platen roller. The surface of the platen roller should be kept clean, but also in order to get good printing effect, and extend the life of the print head. The label paper will leave a lot of powder on the rubber roller during the printing process, if it is not cleaned in time, the printing head will be damaged.

1. Turn off the printer power.

2. Rotate the platen roller and use a cotton swab or lint-free cloth to wipe it thoroughly with 100% ethanol.

 

· Exterior:

Wipe it with water-dampened cloth.

 

· Interior:

Use a vacuum or blower brush to clean the dust.

 

Note:

1. Always turn off the barcode printer power before cleaning the printer.

2. Do not touch print head by hand. Tweezers is not allowed to use for cleaning, otherwise the print head, platen roller or sensor may be damaged.

3. Please use 100% ethanol. Do not use medical alcohol, gasoline or acetone, which may damage the print head and platen roller.

4. Do the sensor calibration after cleaning the sensors.

5. Only turn on the printer and resume printing job after the ethanol volatilized.
